The real difference between Mac and PC

Something which never ceases to be discussed and/or argued about, is the real difference between Mac and PC. Which is better?

I’m going to try and answer this in this article, though of course many people will still disagree.

Let’s start with Apple. Apple control everything. That means the entire end product is sold by Apple. The products they sell are of a higher price range. Steve Jobs summed this up brilliantly once by saying “we don’t ship junk”. This puts it out there perfectly, Apple only ship high-end products.

Now we go to Windows, or Android. These are both pieces of software, written and licensed off to third-party manufacturers. The end product is then up to the third-party manufacturer. The problem here, is that most Windows/Android device manufacturers tend to cover the widest price range possible. They will have products as cheap as chips, so that cheapskates can buy them, but they will also have high-end products on par with those of Apple.

One of the best concepts you can learn in life, is that you really do get what you pay for. Sadly, some people look at the choice of PCs, Smartphones, or Tablets that is available for them, and instantly head towards the cheaper end of the spectrum. They will then have a bad experience with the product as a result only of their bad choice.

So you now might ask.. what about when it comes to the difference between Apple’s products, and the high-end products of Windows or Android manufacturers?

Well, there’s no answer to that. At the end of the day, you should try out products from both, and see which you prefer using personally. At this stage there’s no right or wrong answer, it’s simply a question of personal preference.

I believe the arguments in the first place are caused mostly by 2 groups of people:

  • Apple Fanboys: these people have a religious-like obsession with Apple products and refuse to accept a non-Apple product as being decent, possibly because they have purchased cheap Android/Windows devices before.
  • Android/Windows Cheapskates: These people use low-end, cheap Android or Windows devices, and hate on Apple because they don’t sell products cheap enough to afford from a job at McDonald’s.

I believe both of these groups of people need to grow up and accept their options more, because no one likes a fanboy.

I have recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and despite being able to accept that the iPad is a brilliant product, I also believe that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is just as much of a fantastic product.

Please do let me know your thoughts – but this is my personal opinion on the matter, and what the real difference is between the two.

I couldn’t agree more with this. Now while I am gulity in the past of spreading Apple hate that doesn’t mean I hate Apple products. I have used two iPod touches both 3rd and 4th gen, and I liked them a lot, but when I got my Galaxy S2, the iPod seemed kinda rubbish.

It is all about personal preference at the end of the day. I don’t mind a reasonable and logical debate, but when it turns into sad name calling etc, it doesn’t really do anything.
